What we know about him? He is from New York. He was once banned from entering Madame X, where we hold our monthly #TalentExpo at, prior to us securing the spot, and he constantly has music that expresses sincere, yet uncontrollable anger. That is anger for anything. Albeit, parents, girls, and now, Kendrick Lamar, or, as he puts it, K DOT.
For the past few years, he has been an unsigned talent simply needing a real break. A professional critique, perhaps major labels are afraid of his realness he displays on each bar. He delivers rhymes, sometimes videos, that may seem to most, over the top. Over the top because America wants to censor our music. 100 Grand hates to be censored, he hates even more to be ignored. Say you dislike his record, he might just tell you what he feels, but explain why you dislike it, he might just ask you how to improve. 100 Grand is a realist. He understands he won't be liked be all.
But this is Hip HOP. Fuck that. This boy went in. Risking chances of being signed by labels that may have interest in Kendrick Lamar, he took the challenge and delivered. With a unique flow, a different track, you can feel the rawness that resonates through each bar. Hip Hop as it should be. His hook "New York, New York/They the city got soft/but thanks to K dot/now we'll never get along/So forget the west coast/y'all gonna all sing along/I'm theunderground king of NY/you been warned" and followed with "on my Jigga/50/Nas/lets not forget (sample) Biggie". He also responds to his fellow NYC emcees asking them "how you let this fool come/and crush the big apple", clearly expressing his annoyance with cats that are on and won't assert their own lyrical prowess. He is apparently excited, seeing that hip hop fans really wanted someone who can rap in the game with a quote "that's all these hiphop/crtics/want is lyrics/why didn't you just say so/I got that/That's it" he is clearly shooting at all the blogs that have ignored his previous works and has used the opportunity to defend his city to show off his genius flow.
Well, we are glad he said something and we featured the video on The Mic Booth phone app available on google play and iTunes at number 1.If we were able to sign you, we probably would strongly consider it. But for now, this unsolicited, not asked for write up will have to do. Follow him on twitter @Thisis100grand.
If there is news out there believe the scoop will be here.
